Amidst the continuously emerging updates from Tehelka Scandal wherein Tehelka’s Editor-in-Chief, Tarun Tejpal has been allegedly accused of sexually harassing his colleague, there is another BIG news giving rounds of social networks is from Media Sarkar. Reporter Anuranjan Jha has released a sting operation video clip of Aam Aadmi Party, which shows a party member trying to raise donations through illegal means.
During a Press Conference, this afternoon, AAP leader Yogendra Yadav refuted the whole scandal and told Media persons that the alleged tapes seem to be “doctored”, adding “we want the whole truth to be out.”
“We have sent a letter and email asking Anuranjan Jha (reporter) for the raw footage of the sting. But he has not responded,” Yadav said.
“We want to get to the bottom of this matter. Whoever is to blame, we will prosecute,” Yadav said, adding that the AAP is giving the reporter and the media organisation time till 3 pm to hand over the raw tapes.
Failing which they will take legal actions against them (Media Sarkar), Yadav added. He noted the AAP had earlier given Anuranjan time till 11 am to hand over the sting tapes.
Journalist hands over AAP sting operation CD to EC
Media Sarkar journalist Anuranjhan Jha has submitted the raw footage of the sting operation carried out by him to CD and EC. This step came in after he rejected the Aam Aadmi Party’s demand for the raw tapes to be handed over to them. He had also said that he would directly give the raw footages to the Election Commission.
“Who is AAP to give us a time? We will give any constitutional body the raw footage. We will give the raw footage to the Election Commission on Friday itself,” Jha had said.
He had also added that the journalist’s who want to see the raw footage, can see the video in his office.
Shazia Ilmi offers to resign
Aam Admi Party’s Sanjay Singh said if the sting indeed is a conspiracy; the party will take legal action against them.
“This isn’t a Bigg Boss episode that you can edit and only show some footage as you want,” Singh said.
“We will decide our options in our political affairs meeting at 3.00 pm,” he said further.
On Shazia Ilmi’s offer not to contest polls following the sting, the AAP said no decision has been taken on the offer.
“Yes Shazia ilmi has offered to not contest elections but we have not accepted her request yet. We have asked her to wait,” Yadav said.
AAP to file defamation suit over sting operation, complain to EC
In a bid to walk to the talk on corruption, the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday reiterated that if the Election Commission of India finds any of the party’s candidates guilty after examining the controversial sting operation footage, he or she would withdraw from the political race and stop campaigning.
In a bid to assuage tensions brewing for the AAP ahead of 4th December 2013 Assembly Elections, AAP member Yogendra Yadav reiterated that the CD which showed one of its candidates allegedly accepting a donation without verification was not genuine.
Terming the CD a political conspiracy, Yadav said lawyer Prashant Bhushan will file a defamation suit against those who made the CD and TV channels which broadcasted it.
Will sting operation hurt Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi Assembly elections?
With less than two weeks to go for the Delhi Assembly Elections, Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) might experience a serious credibility crisis with a sting operation showing party leaders accepting cash donations without proper verification.
While party leader Kejriwal has assured that anyone found guilty will face action, the damage seems to have been done.
Kejriwal also said that they were expecting “many more sting operations” as their growing popularity has unsettled many.
“We will not spare anyone if found guilty,” he said, adding he knew who were behind it as BJP and Congress have been routed by AAP.
Arvind Kejriwal, who is famous for his style of publicly coming out with evidences against corrupt politicians in press conferences, when he was a part of India Against Corruption is now sitting the same way in the press conference along with same members he used to sit before turning into a politician from a social worker. But now the only deference is this time he is refuting all the allegations of allegedly raising donations through illegal means.
